Water Quality=Quality of Life
May reminds us of how beautiful life can be. The trees and flowers are blooming and brighter than ever against Phoenix’s bluebird sky, and the snowmelt in the mountains are filling the waterways. The days are getting longer and warmer. On a hot day, is there anymore more refreshing than a cold glass of water? Before you take that drink…let me ask: What is your water quality?
According to ICC–International Council Code–May is also Building Safety Month. It’s a healthy reminder to celebrate water safety in our local Anthem community. Moreover, without water codes our water would be too polluted with unwanted toxins and be unsafe to drink. So before you finish that cold glass of water, keep reading.
Building Safety Month
The ICC’s goal with Building Safety Month is to educate and celebrate all aspects of building safety codes. This also includes plumbing, water codes, and water safety. Their motto is, “Safer buildings, safer communities, safer world.”
Furthermore, plumbing and water codes help ensure access to safer water for you, and for future generations. Because of the strict codes, you can safely turn on the tap and draw sufficient amounts of water to drink, bathe in, and even swim in. Or can you?
How is Your Water Quality?
We think it’s great to celebrate the codes that the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) provide for us. Codes prevent the large amounts of contaminants floating in our water systems. Luckily for us, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) worked alongside the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality to determine Anthem’s water quality. Good news! Anthem, and the surrounding Phoenix area, passed! However, while our community met the standards for water quality, contaminants were still found.
Safe Solutions
In the report, there are sixteen types of toxins found in our local Anthem water systems. For example, contaminants such as arsenic, radium, nitrite, and other potentially harmful pollutants, are listed. So…how do we get rid of these dangerous impurities? Water treatments!
At Wyman Plumbing & Mechanical, we offer three distinct water treatment options. While installing a water softener is beneficial for many reasons, we’re focusing on two water treatments that eliminate the harmful impurities. Installing either a household water filtration system or a reverse osmosis drinking water system can drastically improve your water safety. Regardless of your preference, it’s a good idea to get your water system tested annually. Be sure to give us a call and schedule your appointment today.
Water Filtration Systems
Even though our water goes through a treatment plant, it’s a long journey from a water treatment facility to your household pipes. As water travels to your home it can pick up numerous other water pollutants. Whole house water filtration systems are designed to extract and filter contaminants and water impurities that are caused by pipe corrosion.
Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Systems
We think it’s time to get serious about water safety. Let’s face it: Legal does not always mean safe. The best way to ensure the cleanest water is through reverse osmosis. Sounds fancy, doesn’t it? Reverse osmosis (R.O.) works by utilizing pressure and semi-permeable membrane that separates the water at the molecular level. This naturally occurring phenomenon uses no chemicals, and is environmentally safe. Still need convincing? Check out the chart below for more information.
Safer Together
It’s important to note that while these systems are extremely effective in eliminating water contaminants, no water treatment system is 100% perfect. What we put into our water systems can sometimes come back around to us. Safety codes, including water codes, are in place to protect us harmful pollutants and water impurities. We think it is awesome that ICC dedicates the whole month of May to Building Safety Month. What about your building, home, or office? When was the last time you had your water tested? If the amount of water contaminants concerns you, give us a call. We provide two safe and effective solutions to bring you clean, fresh water. Water is life, and Wyman Plumbing & Mechanical can ensure that you receive the best in Arizona.
